Privacy policy
Effective date: September 21, 2026. This Privacy Policy describes how Drake Apps, LLC, the operator of Product Guidebook (“Product Guidebook,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes information in connection with the website located at productguidebook.com, our mobile applications for iOS, iPadOS, and Android, and any related services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through the Services, in email and other electronic communications with us, and from third parties as described below. It does not apply to information collected by manufacturers, retailers, or other third parties whose websites, applications, or documents may be linked to or accessible from the Services, including the manufacturers whose manuals and other documents appear in our library. Those parties maintain their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide to us
- Account information. Where the Services offer the ability to create an account, we collect the information required to establish and maintain it, which may include your name, email address, a password or other credential, and, at your election, profile details such as the products you own.
- Submissions. If you submit a manual or other document to our library, we collect your email address, the product name and document details you provide, any notes accompanying the submission, and the file itself, together with the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and browser identifier from which the submission was made.
- Communications. If you contact us, including to submit a copyright notice, a privacy request, or a support inquiry, we collect the contents of that communication and the contact details you provide.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and connection information. IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type and model, language settings, referring URLs, and, in our mobile applications, the application version and platform.
- Installation identifier. Our mobile applications generate a random identifier when first installed. On Apple devices this identifier is stored in the iCloud Keychain and is therefore shared among devices signed in to the same Apple Account. The identifier is not derived from your device hardware, your Apple Account, or any information that identifies you personally, and is used to associate your saved products, downloads, reading positions, and bookmarks (your “shelf”) with your installation.
- Usage information. The pages, products, and documents you view; the searches you perform; the features you use; the dates and times of your activity; and similar information about how you interact with the Services.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, software development kits (“SDKs”), local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember your preferences, measure audiences, and support advertising, as further described in Section 5.
- Push notification tokens. If you enable push notifications in a mobile application, we collect the device token necessary to deliver them.
2.3 Information from third parties
We may receive information about you from analytics providers, advertising partners, and affiliate networks, including aggregated or inferred demographic and interest information, and from third-party sign-in services if you choose to create or access an account through them.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services, including to deliver search results, render documents, and synchronize your shelf across your devices.
- To create and administer accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer support.
- To review, moderate, and publish documents submitted to the library and to maintain a record of the source of each submission.
- To understand how the Services are used, measure audiences, and conduct analytics and research.
- To display advertising, including advertising selected on the basis of the content you view and, where permitted, on the basis of inferred interests and demographic characteristics, and to measure the effectiveness of that advertising.
- To communicate with you about the Services, respond to your inquiries, and, where you have agreed or where permitted by law, send you marketing communications from which you may opt out at any time.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and other harmful activity, and to enforce our terms and policies.
- To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights, property, and safety of Product Guidebook, our users, and others.
- To create aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized data sets that do not identify you, which we may use and disclose for any purpose, including advertising and analytics.
4. How we disclose information
We disclose information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. To vendors and contractors that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, content delivery, storage, email delivery, customer support, and analytics, subject to contractual obligations to protect the information.
- Analytics and advertising partners. To third-party analytics providers and advertising networks, which may collect information through cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies as described in Section 5. We may disclose aggregated, de-identified, anonymized, or demographic information to these partners for advertising and analytics purposes.
- Affiliate partners. Certain links on the Services direct you to third-party retailers through affiliate programs. When you follow such a link, the retailer or affiliate network may receive information about the referral in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Legal and safety. When we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Product Guidebook, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our business or assets.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell or rent your name, email address, telephone number, or other information that directly identifies you to third parties. We may, however, use and disclose aggregated, de-identified, anonymized, or demographic information, and may permit advertising partners to collect information through cookies and similar technologies on the Services, for advertising and analytics purposes. In certain jurisdictions, this activity may be characterized as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and you may opt out as described in Section 8.
5. Cookies, analytics, and advertising
We use third-party analytics services, such as Google Analytics, to collect and analyze information about the use of the Services. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your device and your activity over time and across websites and applications. Google's use of information collected through Google Analytics is governed by Google's privacy policy, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics measurement.
We may permit third-party advertising networks and partners to serve advertisements on the Services. These partners may use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to the Services and other websites and applications in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you and to measure advertising performance. We do not control these technologies or the partners' use of the information collected through them. Many advertising partners participate in the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) or the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI), whose websites offer tools to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.
You may configure your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, certain features of the Services may not function properly. On mobile devices, you may limit ad tracking or reset your advertising identifier through your device settings.
6. Mobile applications
In addition to the information described above, the following applies to our mobile applications:
- Shelf data. The products you save, the documents you download, your reading position within each document, and your bookmarks are transmitted to and stored on our servers in association with your installation identifier, and with your account if you create one, so that they can be presented on each of your devices.
- Downloaded documents. Documents you download are stored on your device. The document files themselves are not transmitted from your device to us.
- Annotations. On Apple devices, annotations you draw on a document are stored on your device and, where iCloud is enabled, synchronized through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. Annotations are not transmitted to our servers. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Application analytics and advertising. Our mobile applications may incorporate third-party analytics and advertising SDKs that collect device information, usage information, and, where you have permitted it under your device's settings, advertising identifiers, for the purposes described in Sections 3 and 5.
7. Data retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Account information is retained for the life of the account and for a reasonable period thereafter. Shelf data associated with an installation identifier is retained until you remove it through the application or request its deletion. Submission records, including the source IP address, are retained as part of the provenance of documents in the library. Server access logs are retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes. Aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information may be retained indefinitely.
8. Your choices and rights
- Account and shelf. Removing a product or download from your shelf deletes the corresponding record from our servers. If you have an account, you may update or delete it through the account settings or by contacting us. To request deletion of all data associated with a mobile installation, contact us at the address below.
- Marketing communications. You may opt out of marketing email at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by contacting us. We may continue to send transactional or administrative messages relating to your account or the Services.
- Cookies and advertising. See Section 5 for the controls available to you.
- Push notifications. You may disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.
- Jurisdiction-specific rights. Depending on where you reside, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or of targeted advertising; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, subject to verification. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
- Do Not Track. Our Services do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. Where required by law, we honor opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control.
9. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address below.
10. Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect against unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Communications between our applications and our servers are encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
Product Guidebook is operated by Drake Apps, LLC from the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, where data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
12. Third-party links and content
The Services contain links to, and content from, third-party websites, retailers, and manufacturers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third party before providing it with information.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where the changes are material, provide additional notice through the Services or by other means. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of a revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
